Laurie de Koch
Executive Director
Laurie's professional expertise and her personal passions converge as the Executive Director of this young organization. With a Master's degree in Arts Management, 20 years of nonprofit management experience, and a deep commitment to arts education, Laurie naturally evolved from co-founder to full-time Executive Director of Seattle JazzED in March of 2011. Inspired by the impact that music education has made on the lives of her own children who were fortunate enough to be in schools with strong music programs, Laurie devotes herself to ensuring that all students have access to exceptional music education.

Britt Madsen
Communications & Development Director
Britt joined Seattle JazzED in 2011 after four years at the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras where she ran the nationally-renowned Marrowstone Summer Music Festival and SYSO's public school partnerships. She loves working with the incredible JazzED students, families and supporters who make this young organization so vibrant. Britt graduated from the University of Washington in 2007. She lives in the Roosevelt neighborhood with her husband and young son/future trombone player.

Aaron Walker-Loud
Education Director
Aaron Walker-Loud is a producer, composer, musician, band director and educator born and raised in the Central District; moving forward as a proud alum of Garfield High School and Washington Middle School Jazz Ensembles / Drum Lines (directed by Clarence Acox and Robert Knatt). After founding Big World Breaks in 2004 (a production company built for stage, studio and education) he has shared stages with many artists including Janelle Monae, B.O.B., Reggie Watts, DJ QBert, Macklemore and Digable Planets; and has also produced live show backing for acts such as Grammy Nominated singer Wayna, Zo!, Sy Smith, Kimberly Nichole, Eriam Sisters, Choklate, Gabriel Teodros, Xperience, JusMoni, Blue Scholars and the Massive Monkees.
Walker-Loud has worked with youth and families for over 15 years designing, directing and implementing curriculum with organizations such as Community Day School Association and School's Out Washington, is a member of the Creative Advantage roster, a Teaching Artist for Arts Corps and is the Education Director for Seattle JazzED. Walker-Loud is proudly now in his 7th year directing the Washington Middle School Drum Line and his 2nd year directing the O'Dea High School Drum Line.

Jordan Leonard
Program Coordinator
Jordan's passion for jazz and youth development has grown from organizing the revival of Franklin High School's Jazz program as a senior in 2010 to the focus of his career path. He continued to mentor students, played Jazz and began working as a Jazz Music Director at KSPC: The Space at Pitzer College. He majored in Africana Studies with a disciplinary focus in History. Much of his work was focused in various music cultures such Jazz, Punk Rock, Black American music, American music, and World music, particularly the African Diaspora like South Africa, where he studied abroad.
After graduating in 2014, he continues to program jazz and is the host of the online show Black Roots Radio at Hollow Earth Radio in Seattle. His journey has also led him to work with various non-profits like the YMCA, UNCF (United Negro College Fund), University Tutor for Seattle Schools and now with JazzED in 2015.

Carie Lorenson
Finance Manager
Carie is a contract bookkeeper who began work with Seattle JazzED in the fall of 2013. She and her husband live in West Seattle and have one adult daughter. Carie played clarinet in her high school band, which is also where she met her husband over 35 years ago. Her daughter's experiences playing bass at Garfield High School, SYSO and Seattle Rock Orchestra have brought tremendous joy that continues to this day. She is delighted to help JazzED spread the joy that music education can bring!
