Vocal Jazz Workshop
Calling all high school vocalists!
JazzED has a new Vocal Jazz Workshop! Join us as we dig into vocal jazz harmonies with 4-6 parts and explore jazz styles such as swing, blues, bossa, samba, funk, bebop, and ballads both accompanied and a cappella. We will unravel some of the mystery around good scat singing and gain confidence in vocal improvisation. Singers will also have soloing opportunities and explore lyrical delivery as well as enhancing singing independence (2 to 3 voices per part). Most importantly, we will develop a singing community that you will enjoy being a part of.
Rehearsals will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays (see schedule below), and will conclude with an exciting performance at The Royal Room.
This workshop is open to vocalists in grades 9-12. No prior vocal jazz experience is necessary.
Registration is closed.
